Soil Conditions
As you can imagine not all soils are considered equal. Some soils are primarily sand and allow for a great digging experience and some soils contain a large amount of rock which can increase digging time dramatically. Another item to consider is the frost depth in your area, In Southern British Columbia we tend to have a very mild winter and thus we only require holes of 24” but in some areas of Canada especially that of the north you can expect your installer to be digging and or pounding a fence post 4’ to 6’ in-depth in order avoid fence heaving.

Style of Fence
Much like a wood fence, there are hundreds of variations available to the homeowner. Our most popular style of vinyl fencing is our 6’ high Full Privacy Vinyl Fence, but we also offer many other styles of vinyl fencing. Our Semi-Private & Picket Vinyl Fences are usually a little more expensive due to the routing and wastage involved during the manufacturing process. A great example of advanced routing is our Basket Weave Fence. The Basket Weave Fence has 24 routes per panel vs 4 on a 6’ Full Privacy Fence. If you are looking for a great value we recommend our Ranch Rail Style, while you do not get a privacy fence it does provide a barrier between your yard and the road at an affordable price.

Vinyl Manufacturer
Another factor to consider when calculating the cost of a vinyl fence is the manufacturer from whom you purchased the fence. Much like a car, truck, or SUV not all manufacturers produce the same quality vehicle. When we go vehicle shopping we tend to not put luxury brands such as Mercedes, Lexus and BMW in the same bracket as the likes of Honda, Toyota, Chrysler. When it comes to Vinyl Fencing the consumer should be aware that there is a dramatic difference in PVC Quality from manufacturer to manufacturer.
At OK Vinyl we only carry PVC Fencing manufactured in North America extruded with Natural Gas as the heat source. We believe that PVC when heated with natural gas provides the cleanest and strongest products on the market. Other manufacturers, especially those found overseas in China tend to use Coal generated heat. Coal-generated heat can lead to particulates embedded into the final product and these particulates can reduce the strength and longevity of the vinyl. Products developed in china also tend to be of lesser quality as China has always been the leader in clones vs innovation. Although China has made massive improvements toward innovation vs clones at a cheaper price, we at OK Vinyl still don’t feel comfortable passing this product to our customers.
Stepped, Sloped, or Level
The Cost of a vinyl fence is heavily dependent on the installation itself. Much like a human being, no individual land lot is identical to another. Some land lots are flat and are easy to install a vinyl fence upon others are unlevel and can require either a sloped or stepped fence.
Level Fence
A level fence is when each end of the fence follows along a perpendicular line. Looking at the level fence from a 90-degree angle you will notice that the fence appears straight from end to end.
Stepped Fence
A stepped fence is when the panels are level but not with each other. To explain further on a stepped fence you will have a level 8’ panel and then there will be a drop between 2 and 6 inches followed by another 8’ level fence panel.
Sloped Fence
A sloped fence is when the panels are all sloped on a preset degree. Looking at a sloped fence you will notice that it follows the curve of the lot as it goes from a higher to a lower point.
Colour
One of the things OK Vinyl Products prides itself on is our selection of colours. Sadly during the COVID-19 Pandemic, our manufacturers in North America scaled back production as did many manufacturing companies. This resulted in a limited supply of material, especially that of our premium colours. In the world of vinyl fencing White is the standard colour and in turn the least expensive.
